About
I was the youngest of two boys and second of five children. My father was a hard working immigrant prairie farmer, construction worker, and eventually ended up as a Realtor working to age 75. My mother was a great homemaker and the glue that held the family together.
I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters and 7 grandchildren from an earlier marriage. I am happily remarried and proud to have four cool stepkids and a new grandchild to arrive any day. Collectively all these children and grandchildren are my “WHY”
I gained great experience working in home construction as a kid and even had a small renovation contracting company for a while. After completing a technical degree at the British Columbia Insitute of Technology, I worked as a roof truss designer and sales rep. That led me to a sales position through a head hunter, in the commercial and industrial metal framing industry. In 1986 along with a partner I started a business as a wholesale distributor of metal framing and galvanized steel tubing. Although retired from day to day management, I still own a large portion of that active and successful business.
My next major enterprise was a partnership in a property investment business. We currently own 8 residential rental properties in the central USA.
My vision for the future, in addition to financial security for my family, is to enable each of my 7 children to experience the empowerment and freedom that a successful, leveraged, entrepreneurial opportunity can provide. My mission is to build a profitable online marketing business, by always offering value that exceeds the cost, and by adopting proven systems that are now made available through CarbonCopy Pro.
About George’s Barbershop Quartet, Antique Gold…
Hello,
My name is Jesse Herrera. I am 23 years old and competed with The 505 Chorus from Albuquerque, NM at this year’s Midwinter Festival in Tampa. I began singing at 5 years old with a boy choir, and since, I’ve sung and arranged music in a wide array of styles – most recently barbershop. When I saw your quartet onstage, I was absolutely blown away. For the first time ever, I began to believe in this style as a fine form of expression versus just an interesting hobby. I saw every other quartet that performed on that stage; I’ve seen videos and heard audio of all the legendary quartets like Max Q, Gashouse Gang, Platinum, etc. etc. and I have never been so inspired by barbershop until I saw you guys. It was a real, intimate sound and it struck me in such a way that I want to understand it completely. I live for moments when my preconceptions of music are totally shattered – where I suddenly feel like I’ve heard music for the first time. Your quartet’s performance in Tampa will remain among the most inspiring events in music for me.
I want to keep enjoying what you gentlemen introduced me to. As an artist, I want to understand your sound more in order to further uncover the make up of my tastes and to increase my musical vocabulary. MY POINT (finally) is that I need something to study. I haven’t found any albums for sale nor online videos of your performances. Do you have any albums or single track recordings that I can purchase/attain?
A final point that I want to share: When I told my friends (that also saw you in Tampa) of how excited I was, many didn’t immediately understand me. They first responded with ideas that implied them knowing better than me, as if there is a right or wrong to music, as if OF COURSE Ringmasters and OC Times are much more exciting than some ‘old-man quartet’ (no offense…). I want to reassure you that I am not a closed-minded or ignorant musician. I take music for what it is – music. Pure, plain, and simple. My intrigue and excitement toward Antique Gold is as unaffected and subjective as anyone’s first exposure to art. You’ve inspired someone who, because of it, will more than likely inspire others to understand the meaning of music.
Thank you and your quartet for sharing yourselves with that Tampa Bay audience. And thanks for making it through this novel…
Sincerely,
Jesse
