Keywords are the key to increasing traffic to your website. But what keywords do you decide on?
Well, you type the keywords that you think are right for your site into the search banner and look at all the choices that magically pop-up on your screen. Check out the first five or six sites that appear. What Meta tags and site headers are the most frequent on those top few sites? There are your keywords.
It’s okay if these are actually relevant to your business site. You want to be at least placed on first page of the search and first choice would be ideal.
A computer does the evaluating and ranking of your site, but once it is placed, it’s people that are going to read it. If you are just placing keywords to get top ranked sites and it has nothing to do with your product or service you’ll lose more customers than you gain.
Links are another great traffic increasing tool. Find a website that you really like, ones that actually provides a service or product related to yours and has great traffic. You want to link with them to share their traffic and you want it to match your products. The reason for this is so when you get their traffic, it is traffic that is looking for a similar product to purchase. Need an example; if you are selling pies, you don’t really want to gain traffic that is actually looking for plumbers.
Blogs are another really great tactic for promoting web sites and increasing traffic to your sites. Either create your own or have someone else blog about your site. Be sure that blogs are interesting and consistent. Don’t make your blog just an advertisement of your product or service. Make it enjoyable to read, mentioning your business enough to draw their interest to your site, then once they are on your web site then sell them on your product.
You could also start you own forum to use as a traffic tool. It could be related to your web site. You instantly become an expert in your niche topic. You help others that join your forum by answering their questions about your topic. Because your website address, your URL, is your signature on your forum, they click and are taken to your web site. They get answers, you get traffic, and everyone wins.
